Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heating employs the same technology as Geothermal heating except with an air source heat pump the energy is being absorbed from the air rather than from the ground; the heat pump then converts that low grade energy into higher temperature hot water through the use of refridgeration technology. Air source heat pumps particularly suit Ireland because Ireland has a higher winter temperature then most other European countries.

Air source heat pumps have a defrost cycle which means that every so often the heat pump will go into a reverse mode to defrost any ice that forms on the outside of the heat pump. Air source heat pumps are popular due to the low capital cost and also the fact that no earth works need to be completed outside as the entire evaporator is contained within the heat pumps just outside the wall of the house.
