CHP Field Service Engineer

Origen Energy Ltd, formed in 2008 is part of the family-run Hevac Group, operational since 1974 and comprises Hevac Limited, Tube Company of Ireland Ltd, Aluminox Limited and Polytherm Heating Systems Limited.

We operate from facilities in both Dublin and Cork. We design and supply fully engineered renewable energy and environmental solutions to the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.  The focus of Origen Energy Limited is to provide quality solutions that lower energy costs, whilst offering maximum efficiency and comfort.  We ensure both domestic and commercial projects are as energy efficient as possible and comply with all necessary energy regulations, guaranteeing a reduced carbon footprint.

Due to continued expansion we are now seeking to recruit a CHP Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic team in a growing business and offer a competitive benefits package to the right candidate.


Overall purpose of the Role:

The CHP Field Service Engineer will maximise the uptime of a range of CHP units from 6kW to 4.3MW through the execution of breakdown, preventative and predictive maintenance. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of CHP Units
  • Preparation & Implementation of planned operations & maintenance schedules.
  • Servicing of CHP Units
  • Ensuring each unit is in pristine condition at all time
  • Responding to breakdowns and repairing equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults
  • Engine Rebuilds
  • Obtaining specialist components, fixtures or fittings
  • Assisting in off-loading and positioning of Units
  • Training & supervising engineering and technical staff
  • Maintain accurate and up to date maintenance records.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental, health and safety legislation.
  • Creating maintenance procedures
  • Managing stocks of supplies and equipment.
  • Have a flexible attitude regarding working hours including evenings and weekends where necessary
  • Regular travel within the island of Ireland and occasional travel overseas will be required.


The ideal Candidate will possess the following:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline is desirable but not essential.
  • 5 years’ experience post qualification in a similar role, possibly as an engine service engineer working on various types of heavy-duty engines would be an advantage.
  • Be up to date with current Irish & EU Regulations.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Fluent English (Spoken & Written)
  • Full Clean Drivers Licence
  • Have a valid Safe Pass (desirable)
  • Be committed to working to the highest possible standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
